It is the practice of Illinois State University, and in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Cleary Act)1 , to issue timely notification "upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on the campus". (Department of Education, 2014) The University's notification system is branded "ISU Emergency Alert" and its usage is prescribed within the Emergency Operations Plan. Emergency Management is responsible for this service, including periodic testing, adoption, and awareness efforts, and oversight before, during, and after emergencies.
