For the purposes of this policy, an emergency is any event, whether expected or unexpected, that places life or significant University assets in danger, or threatens the ability to conduct normal University operations.
Illinois State University is committed to the safety and wellbeing of students, employees, and visitors and to protect the University's essential functions of teaching, research, and public service before, during and after emergencies. The purpose of this policy is to outline the conditions necessary for ensuring that the University community is prepared for, can effectively respond to, and recover from an emergency through the appropriate use of University and partner resources. Steps will be enacted to mitigate the immediate effects of an emergency on University constituents and the long-term effects of an emergency on operations.
