7.8.4 Fiscal Officer Responsibility


Over-expenditures in the Personnel/Payroll system occur when the salary (salaries) of an employee(s) in a given position exceeds the amount budgeted for the position. Over-expenditures in the Financial System (Datatel) occur when expenditures and encumbrances exceed the budget for a given line item (contractual, commodities, etc.).

It is the responsibility of all budget officers and their area administrators to see that overdrafts do not occur in any of the positions or line items for which they are responsible, regardless of the source of funds.
