Policy
All new employees and promoted civil service employees serve a six- or twelve-month probationary period. The probationary period is part of the examination process and is to be used for close observation and evaluation of the employee's work, for obtaining the most effective adjustment of a new employee to the position, and to determine whether an employee demonstrates the ability and qualifications necessary to furnish satisfactory service.
During the initial probationary period, you may be subject to dismissal for unsatisfactory attendance, job performance, conduct, or other reasons. Probationary dismissals are not reviewable.
