- Prior to each semester's registration period, according to the deadlines established by the Office of the University Registrar, department chairs/school directors will collect and submit information regarding textbooks and other supplemental course materials. This information is required for legislative compliance and transparency for student course registration. Information collected will include ISBN, author, title, publisher, published date, verified textbook pricing information (to the maximum extent practicable), and if the textbook and/or supplemental course material is required or recommended. The Office of the University Registrar will process and make publicly available textbook and/or supplemental course materials information for each course offered for preregistration and registration purposes.
2. Illinois State University may not enter into a contract for textbook sales with any vendor that
a. restricts students from purchasing textbooks from other vendors;
b. restricts instructors from adopting textbooks they deem suitable for their courses (regardless of availability from the contracted on-campus seller); or
c. prevents instructors from disclosing information about affordable textbook options in an objective manner without endorsing only one vendor. An exception to 2c. applies when the selected course material is available only from a single source.
3. The University shall also maintain a website with information concerning textbook selection, the need to investigate cost and format options, and the importance of timely reporting of materials chosen.
