7.2.3 Parking Permit Types

Policy

Illinois State University provides parking for a fee as follows:

  1. Faculty/staff surface permits are valid in red-posted surface lots from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  These permits are also valid in red reserved spaces from 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  2. Reserved permits are valid in their specific reserved space from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. only, reserved permits are valid in red surface, green surface, and all reserved spaces.
  3. Commuter permits are valid in green posted lots from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  These permits are also valid in red reserved spaces from 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  4. Faculty/Commuter (F35/F37) permits are valid on the top level only of School Street and South University Street parking garages from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the designated areas.  Beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. only, those permits are valid in red surface, green surface, and red reserved spaces.
  5. CCT/SHB permits are valid only in the parking areas of these University-owned apartments (Cardinal Court and Shelbourne).
  6. Residence hall storage permits are valid in their designated blue storage lot only.
  7. University High School senior permits are valid in the senior lot (U-83), G83 and G73 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Junior permits are valid in the junior lot (U-91) from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also in senior lot, G83 and G73 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  8. Business permits are available for off-campus vendors and University personnel needing short-term parking arrangements up to three hours while on campus.  These permits are valid in the business spaces, faculty/staff surface lots, and in the Bone Student Center and South University Street garage pay lots.
  9. Metcalf/U-High Laboratory School permits are valid for up to 1-1/2 hours in the Metcalf Parent Lot (L54), and in red and green surface lots after 4:00 p.m., not to include any reserved spaces.
  10. Motorcycle/moped decals are valid in orange-posted motorcycle/moped areas.
  11. Visitor parking is available for a fee in metered spaces, the Bone Student Center pay lot, and the South University Street parking garage.
  12. Conference participants or special events parking must be arranged before the event through the Office of Parking Services.

Permit/Decal Display

Permits on all vehicles must be hanging from the interior rear view mirror, "numbered" side out. Inside application decals must be displayed in the lower right hand corner of the front windshield. The motorcycle and moped decals shall be in a place near the taillight and must be visible from the rear.

Refunds

Refunds are issued for returned permits/decals on a pro-rated schedule available at Parking Services. The date the permit/decal is returned to Parking Services determines the refund. No refunds are made for permits/decals with a current value of $15.00 or less.

Lost and Stolen Permits/Decals

Lost permits/decals may be replaced for $10.00 or the current value of the permit/decal at the time it is lost, whichever is less.

If a parking permit is stolen, a police report should be filed with the University Police (438-8631). Parking Services will issue a replacement tag.
