Non-tenure track faculty appointments for full and part time appointments shall be for a specific purpose and for a specified period of time appropriate to that purpose.
No non-tenure track faculty titles have rank assigned. No time served in a non-tenure track title counts toward fulfillment of a probationary period leading to tenure.
Classification
Lecturer
Faculty with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree whose primary responsibility is classroom instructional duties.
Instructional Assistant Professor
Faculty with a minimum of a master’s degree whose primary responsibility is classroom instructional duties or librarianship.
Clinician
Faculty with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree whose primary responsibility is to augment the curriculum where knowledge of professional practice is essential, for example, practicum supervisors.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Faculty with a minimum of a master’s degree whose primary responsibility is to augment the curriculum where knowledge of professional practice is essential, for example, practicum supervisors.
Emeriti Faculty
Tenured faculty who retire with rank and return to the University to provide services related to teaching, research, or public service, Emeriti faculty shall be accorded the privilege of retaining their professorial title after retirement with the added designation of the word emeritus/emerita/emeritum/emerit.
Adjunct Faculty
Non-paid faculty members appointed by the University to provide support services related to teaching, research, or public service
Performance Evaluation
Performance evaluations are conducted by the Department Chairperson/School Director or designee and are due on or before April 1. Full-time, non-negotiated non-tenure track faculty are evaluated annually. Negotiated non-tenure track faculty evaluations are conducted as outlined in the ISUEA Bargaining Agreement.
